Tosca Rossi’s Terre di Bergamo offers a guided walking tour in the Parco dei Colli di Bergamo following a circular route, covering the green lung of the city from one end to the other, between nature, summer scents and ancient paths with a medieval flavour steeped in history and art.
Starting from the former Valmarina Monastery one reaches the Castagneta area, home to one of the tracts of the ancient Roman aqueducts; one passes the Venetian walls and crosses the ancient Porta di Sant'Alessandro and the site of the ancient Alexandrian basilica.
From via Sudorno, site of the second Roman aqueduct, one goes down to Val d’Astino, as far as the 12th-Century convent, where one can rest before the return trip, which will follow a different route: Via Ripa Pasqualina, Borgo Canale, Largo Colle Aperto, Via Boccola, Porta San Lorenzo, Valverde and Valmarina.
The walk will take about four hours (one can also return on one’s own using public transport – bus no. 1, corso extraurbana). Visitors are recommended to visit the Church of Sepolcro di Astino.
Free event. For those who want headphones, €2.00
